The Verona Bag is a stylish handbag with a distinctive panelled design that gives you plenty of opportunity to make it completely your own. The exterior can be made using anywhere from one to three different fabrics, allowing you to create everything from a simple, understated bag to a colourful statement piece with contrasting prints, colours and textures.
You can choose between flat or rolled handles, giving you another way to change the finished look of your Verona. Inside, a zipper pocket keeps smaller belongings securely tucked away, while open slip pockets provide easy-to-reach storage for your everyday essentials.
The Verona is a particularly fun design for playing with fabric combinations. Use the same fabric throughout for a clean and cohesive look, highlight the different exterior sections with coordinating fabrics, or mix it all up for a completely unique bag. ❤️

Intermediate
The Verona Bag is best suited to an intermediate bag maker or a confident beginner who is comfortable with basic bag-making techniques. You'll be constructing the different exterior sections, installing a zipper pocket and working through multiple layers during the final assembly.

FINISHED SIZE
Approximately 11" (28cm) high, 14" (35cm) wide at the widest part and 3" (7.5cm) deep at the base.
FABRIC & SUPPLIES
Fabric:
Exterior Fabric 1 (purple) - 18x40” (45x100cm):
Vinyl, faux leather, cork, cotton or canvas. More might be needed if you have a directional fabric.
OR 16x30” (40x80cm) is enough if your fabric isn’t vinyl, faux leather, cork or similar whose edges can be left raw.
Exterior Fabric 2 (turquoise) - 14x20” (35x50cm):
Vinyl, faux leather, cork, cotton or canvas. More might be needed if you have a directional fabric.
Decor Fabric (print) - 15x 8” (40x20cm):
Vinyl, faux leather, cork, cotton or canvas.
Lining - ⅔ yard (60cm):
Cotton, or your desired lining fabric.
Vinyl (only needed if your Exterior 1 isn’t vinyl) - 11”x 27” (30x70cm):
Vinyl, faux leather, cork or similar, where edges can be left raw for handles, flap and zipper facing.
Interfacing/stabiliser:
Fusible foam interfacing - 18x25” (45x65cm):
By Annie’s Soft & Stable, Pellon Fusible FlexFoam, Bosal In-R-Form or similar.
Woven fusible interfacing - 1 yard (100cm):
Vilene G700 woven fusible, Pellon SF101 Shape-Flex or similar for all cotton fabric. This is enough for a cotton lining and foam interfacing, if you have a cotton exterior, you need more for those pieces.
Heavy interfacing - 14” x 3” (36x8cm):
Decovil Heavy, Pellon Peltex 71, Fast 2 Fuse Heavy or similar for the bottom.
Hardware/notions:
1 - Bag turn lock:
No bigger than 1 ½” (3.8cm) wide. To close the flap.
7” (18cm) - #3 Zipper:
Or longer for the zipper pocket in the lining.
4 - 1” (2.5cm) Strap ends:
Optional: If desired for the edge of the handles.
4 - Double sided rivets:
Optional: If desired to attach the straps, they can alternatively be sewn down.
4 - Bag feet:
Optional: But gives a nice look and protects the bottom of your bag.
Non-permanent marker:
For making temporary marks, that can be removed with water, heat or similar.
Double sided sewing tape.
Fabric glue.
100/16 sturdy sewing machine needle (preferably a topstitch kind).
Rotary cutter, cutting mat and ruler.
Fabric clips.
