Fresno Foldover Bag - PDF Sewing Pattern

This fashionable but super practical foldover bag pattern quickly became a favorite with my testers. The back has zipper pocket for convenient access to the essentials, while the interior has a number of slip pockets and of course another zipper pocket.

It will fit a laptop, and has much room without becoming bulky. The construction is surprisingly quick and will teach you two separate ways to sew zipper pockets (one for turning your bag through in a very handy way) and two separate ways to sew darts in a bag. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY

This is an excellent pattern for the advanced beginner to intermediate bagmaker.

MEASUREMENTS

Finished Size: 18" (46cm) high unfolded and 14" (37cm) wide.

SUPPLIES NEEDED

Fabric:

½ yard - Exterior fabric: Cotton, faux leather, vinyl or canvas.

½ yard - Accent fabric: Faux leather, vinyl, canvas or any sturdier fabric (you can use cotton but interface it with your light interfacing and adjust such amount accordingly).

1 yard - Lining fabric: Cotton

Interfacing:

½ yard - Mid-weight interfacing: Such as Pellon Fusible Thermolam Plus, Hobbs 80/20 Fusible Cotton Blend or any other quilt batting you have access to, its stiffness will determine how slouchy your bag becomes.

½ yard - Lightweight fusible interfacing: Such as Vilene G700 woven fusible, Pellon SF101 Shape-Flex or similar for lining.

Notions:

1 - 10” (26cm) Zipper: Choose a color matching your lining fabric.

1 - 8” (20cm) Zipper: Choose a color matching your exterior fabric.

2 - 1 ¼” (3cm) wide O-rings (or D-rings): You can use a different size, instructions are in the pattern.

3 - 1 ¼” (3cm) wide Swivel snap hook: Make sure your swivel snap hook can close around the eyelet size you choose.

1 - 1 ¼” (3cm) wide Slider: You can use a different size, instructions are in the pattern.

1 - ¾” (2cm) wide Eyelet.
