The Faro Foldover Clutch pattern is a super quick sew and it is the perfect party bag, easily sewn up in the afternoon before the party! And it's such a fun use for these frames. You can of course convert this bag to a shoulder or crossbody bag should you wish, included in the pattern are descriptions for adding either D-rings or strap clips.

It's fully lined and it has a slip pocket on the front. The open ended frames can be a little difficult to find so I made a blog post with how to find the right ones here, separated by country: Find the Frames This pattern comes with both inch and centimeter measurements. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY

This is suitable for the beginner bagmaker. The Baby Faro is a little more fiddly than the normal one so for that you should preferably be an advanced beginner.

MEASUREMENTS

Finished size: ~7 ½” (19cm) high closed, ~11” (28cm) high unfolded and ~11” (28cm) wide.

Finished size Baby Faro: ~4” (10cm) high closed, ~6” (15cm) high unfolded and ~6” (15cm) wide.

SUPPLIES NEEDED

Fabric:

12” x 30” (30x90cm) - Exterior: Cotton fabric, canvas, soft and pliable vinyl or faux leather that’s got a non-directional print. Make sure you don’t choose a vinyl that’s too stiff or creases when folded as this is a fold over bag and the material needs to withstand repeated folding.

12” x 30” (30x90cm) - Lining: Cotton fabric.

Interfacing:

11” x 28” (30x75cm) - Foam interfacing: By Annie’s Soft & Stable, Pellon Fusible FlexFoam, Bosal In-R-Form or similar (Only if working with cotton or similar thin exterior fabric. Read step 0 for more info on interfacing choices depending on fabric choice.)

11” x 28” (30x75cm) Fusible web: Heat n’ Bond Lite, Vliesofix Bondaweb or similar, the kind you use for appliqué. Only needed if working with a cotton exterior and non-fusible foam.

¾ yard (60cm) - Thin fusible interfacing: Vilene G700 woven fusible, Pellon SF101 Shape-Flex or similar.

8” x 3” (20x8cm) - Heavy interfacing: Pellon Peltex 71, Fast 2 Fuse Heavy, Medium or similar sturdy interfacing might be needed to stabilize the frame.

Notions:

1 - 7 ½” (19cm) OR 4 ½” (11.5cm) Open ended bag frame: Like the ones Emmaline Bags carry for example. Bag frames with closed short sides does NOT work.

2 - Strap clips OR ½” (1.25cm) wide D-rings: Only needed if you want to make a large frame crossbody bag.

1 - Bag chain: Only needed if you want to make a large frame crossbody bag.

Strong fabric glue: Such as Gütermann’s HT2 to glue fabric for the frame. Rotary cutter, cutting mat and ruler.

Non-permanent marker: For making temporary marks, that can be removed with water, heat or similar.

Rotary cutter, cutting mat and ruler.

Fabric clips.
