BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY
This is a pattern for the absolute beginner bag maker. No prior knowledge other than basic sewing skills is assumed.
MEASUREMENTS
Finished size: ~12” (30cm) high, ~13 ½” (34cm) wide and 4” (10cm) deep at the base. But can be made any literally size, instructions are in the pattern.
SUPPLIES NEEDED
Fabric:
⅔ yard (60cm) - Exterior: Cotton fabric, vinyl, faux leather or cork fabric. More fabric will be needed if you wish to fussy cut specific parts of a print.
½ yard” (40cm) - Lining: Cotton fabric.
Interfacing:
14” x 28” (40x75cm) - Foam interfacing: By Annie’s Soft & Stable, Pellon FlexFoam, Bosal In-R-Form or similar.
14” x 28” (40x75cm) Fusible web: Heat n Bond Lite, Vliesofix Bondaweb or similar, only needed if working with cotton exterior and non fusible foam. The kind you use for appliqué.
1 ⅙ yard (100cm) - Thin fusible interfacing: Vilene G700 woven fusible, Pellon SF101 Shape-Flex or similar.
10” x 4” (25x10cm) - Heavy interfacing: Pellon Peltex 71, Fast 2 Fuse Heavy or similar very sturdy interfacing to stabilize the bottom. If you don’t have this, a piece of sturdy cardboard or even a thin plastic cutting board can be used if you’re not planning on washing your bag.
Notions:
1 - #5 Zipper 14” (35cm) (or longer): Should match the exterior fabric.
Double sided sewing tape: I warmly recommend this, but it’s not necessary.
Rotary cutter, cutting mat and ruler.
Fabric clips.
