The top zipper keeps everything securely tucked away, while an interior zipper pocket gives you a separate place for smaller items. The handles are attached using edge connectors, which give the Almora its distinctive polished look and make it a wonderful design for showing off beautiful hardware.

Intermediate
The Almora Bag is best suited to an intermediate bag maker or a confident beginner who is comfortable with basic bag-making techniques. You'll be installing a zipper closure, sewing curved seams and working through multiple layers, as well as attaching hardware such as the edge connectors.
The pattern includes detailed step-by-step instructions and photos to guide you through the entire construction.

FINISHED SIZE
Approximately ~7" (18cm) high, ~12" (30cm) wide at the widest point and 4" (10cm) deep at the base
FABRIC & SUPPLIES
Fabric:
Exterior - 18x22” (45x55cm):
A fat quarter vinyl, faux leather, cork, cotton or canvas. More might be needed if you have a directional fabric.
Lining - ½ yard (40cm):
Cotton fabric or your preferred lining fabric.
Vinyl - 10”x20” (25x50cm)
Vinyl, faux leather, cork or similar, where edges can be left raw for handles and zipper facing.
Interfacing/stabiliser:
Fusible foam stailiser - 10” x 30” (25x75cm):
Pellon fusible flex foam or similar fusible foam stabiliser. If using non-fusible foam, you can either quilt the exterior fabric directly to the foam or attach it using a lightweight fusible web.
Fusible web - 10” x 30” (25x75cm):
Heat n’ Bond Lite, Vliesofix Bondaweb or similar, the kind you use for appliqué. Only needed if working with a cotton exterior and non-fusible foam.
Woven fusible interfacing - 1 yard (90cm):
Vilene G700 woven fusible, Pellon SF101 Shape-Flex or similar for all cotton fabric.
Heavy stabiliser - 10” x 4” (20x10cm):
Decovil Heavy, Pellon Peltex 71, Fast 2 Fuse Heavy or similar for stabilising the bottom.
Hardware/notions:
#5 Zipper - 18” (45cm):
Or longer for bag closure. You can use a 12” (30cm) zipper if you don’t mind separating your zipper.
Edge connectors - 2
For slipping over the bag edge to attach the handle to.

You can use one of these, or fashion a zipper tab of your own design.
Zipper - 7” (18cm):
Or longer, for zipper pocket in lining, can be size #3 or #5 as per your preference.
Double sided rivets - 2:
To attach the straps.
Bag feet - 4:
Optional: But gives a nice look and protects the bottom of your bag.
Non-permanent marker:
For making temporary marks, that can be removed with water, heat or similar.
Double sided sewing tape.
100/16 sturdy sewing machine needle (preferably a topstitch kind).
Rotary cutter, cutting mat and ruler.
Fabric clips.
