Sofia is softly structured with foam interfacing, giving the bag a lovely shape while keeping it comfortable to wear. The little D-ring on the front adds a fun design detail while also giving you a handy place to clip your sunglasses, a cute tassel or another small accessory. ❤️
Inside, Sofia is fully lined and designed to keep your belongings organised, with open slip pockets for the things you want within easy reach and a zippered lining pocket for smaller valuables. The zippered pocket also cleverly doubles as the opening used to turn the bag right side out during construction.

The Sofia Sling Bag is best suited to a confident beginner ready to build their bag-making skills or an intermediate bag maker looking for a fun everyday project.
You'll be working with foam interfacing, installing a zipper and creating a fully lined and structured bag, so some previous sewing experience is helpful. The pattern includes detailed step-by-step instructions and photos to guide you through the entire construction.

Approximately 11” (28cm) high, 11” (28cm) wide at the top and 3” (8cm) deep at the base.
FABRIC & SUPPLIES
Fabric:
Exterior - ½ yard (40cm):
Cotton fabric, vinyl, faux leather or cork fabric.
Contrast - ⅓ yard (30cm):
Cotton fabric, vinyl, faux leather or cork fabric for straps.
Lining - ⅔ yard” (60cm):
Cotton fabric or your preferred lining fabric.
Interfacing/stabiliser:
Foam interfacing - 12” x 32” (35x80cm):
By Annie’s Soft & Stable, Pellon FlexFoam, Bosal In-R-Form or similar.
Fusible web - 12” x 32” (35x80cm):
Heat n’ Bond Lite, Vliesofix Bondaweb or similar, the kind you use for appliqué. Only needed if working with cotton exterior and non-fusible foam.
Woven fusible interfacing - 1 ½ yard (130cm):
Vilene G700 woven fusible, Pellon SF101 Shape-Flex or similar.
Heavy stabiliser: 10” x 4” (25x10cm): Pellon Peltex 71, Fast 2 Fuse Heavy or similar very sturdy interfacing to stabilise the bottom. If you don’t have this, a piece of sturdy cardboard or even a thin plastic cutting board can be used if you’re not planning on washing your bag.
