Loule Bag - PDF Sewing Pattern

Loule may be small, but there's plenty of thought behind the interior. It's roomy enough to carry a standard-size wallet, but if you'd rather leave your wallet at home, six built-in card slots keep your essential cards organised without taking up extra space.

Inside you'll also find open slip pockets for your phone and other small necessities, making it easy to keep everything organised and within reach.

SKILL LEVEL

Confident Beginner / Intermediate

The Loule Bag is a great project for a confident beginner ready to try some new bag-making techniques or an intermediate bag maker looking for a fun, compact project.

You'll be creating zipper piping, sewing built-in card slots and constructing a fully lined bag, so some previous sewing experience is helpful. The pattern includes detailed step-by-step instructions and photos to guide you through the entire construction.

FINISHED SIZE

Approximately 11” (28cm) long, 6” (15cm) high and 1” (2.5cm) wide/deep at the base.

FABRIC & SUPPLIES

Fabric:

Exterior - 15 x 15” (40x40cm):
Fabric for exterior, cork, faux leather, vinyl or cotton.

Decor Fabric - 18” x 22” (45x55cm):
A fat quarter cotton fabric.

Lining - 18” x 22” (45x55cm):
A fat quarter cotton fabric.

Shoulder Strap - 2” x 50” (5x125cm):
Desired fabric for strap (you want a longer strap for a cross body bag) or use a ready made strap or chain.

Interfacing/stabiliser:

Medium stabiliser - 12 x 4” (30x10cm): Fast 2 Fuse Medium, Decovil light or for a softer feel use a fusible fleece, like Pellon Fusible Thermolam Plus, or any interfacing you have that will allow the cotton to match the feel and sturdiness of your exterior.

Medium interfacing - extra if using cotton for exterior fabric - (16 x 20” (40x50cm):
Fast 2 Fuse Medium, Decovil light or for a softer feel use a fusible fleece, like Pellon Fusible Thermolam Plus.)

Woven fusible interfacing - ½ yard:
Fusible interfacing for lining, like Vilene G700 woven fusible or Pellon SF101 Shape-Flex.

Hardware/notions:

1 - 14” (35cm) zipper (or longer) for decor:
Preferably use a sturdy zipper with a metal coil for the best effect, or use regular piping.

1 - 12” (27.5cm) zipper (or longer) for closure:
Use the same kind of zipper as the decor one so they match.

2 - ½” (1.25cm) wide D-rings.

2 - ½” (1.25cm) wide Swivel snap hooks: If making your own strap.

Rotary cutter, cutting mat and ruler.
Double sided  tape or fabric glue.
Wonder clips.
