My Pattern Is Printing Off the Edge of the Paper
If your pattern is printing at the correct size but part of it is disappearing off one side of the paper, this can happen even when your scaling settings are completely correct.
The first thing to check is the page orientation in your print settings. Open your pattern in Adobe Acrobat Reader and open the Print window.
Set Orientation to Auto
Under Orientation, select:
Auto
Avoid manually forcing the document to Portrait or Landscape.
Depending on the page and printer settings, forcing a particular orientation can position part of the PDF outside the printable area of the paper, causing one side of the pattern to be cut off.
Check the print preview before printing. You should be able to see the entire pattern page inside the paper shown in the preview.
Check that you're printing at Actual Size
Under Page Sizing & Handling, select:
Size → Actual Size
Do not select Fit, as this can resize the pattern to fit your printer's printable area and change the dimensions of the pattern pieces.
Check your paper size
Make sure the paper size selected in your printer settings matches the paper you're actually using - for example, A4 or US Letter.
Pink Pony Design pattern pages are designed to fit on both A4 and US Letter paper unless otherwise stated in the individual pattern.
Print one test page first
Before printing all of the pattern pages, print just one page containing a test square.
Measure the square with a ruler and make sure it matches the measurement printed beside it.
If it does, and the complete page is visible without anything being cut off, you can continue printing the remaining pattern pages.
Still being cut off?
If the pattern is still disappearing off the edge of the paper, check:
- Actual Size is selected
- Orientation is set to Auto
- The correct paper size is selected
- The entire page is visible in the print preview
- You're printing from a computer or laptop rather than a phone or tablet
