Almora Bag - PDF Sewing Pattern

The Almora Bag is a great everyday bag, fits so much more than one would think based on it's dainty appearance! The rounded, puffy and sweet outline combined with the safety of the zipper closure and it's interior zipper pocket makes it perfect for a day on the town!

The Almora Bag was an instant new favorite for me, fun to sew and looks so high end! This bag is both stylish and secure. This PDF sewing pattern comes with both inch and centimeter measurements. 

 

BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY

This is a good pattern for the intermediate bag maker.

MEASUREMENTS

~7" (18cm) high, ~12" (30cm) wide at the widest part and 4" (10cm) deep at the base

 

SUPPLIES NEEDED

Fabric:

18x22” (45x55cm) - Exterior:

A fat quarter vinyl, faux leather, cork, cotton or canvas. More might be needed if you have a directional fabric.

½ yard (40cm) - Lining: 

Cotton fabric.

10”x20” (25x50cm) - Vinyl

Vinyl, faux leather, cork or similar, where edges can be left raw for handles and zipper facing.

 

Interfacing:

10” x 30” (25x75cm) - Fusible foam interfacing: 

By Annie’s Soft & Stable, Pellon Fusible Flex­Foam, Bosal In-R-Form or similar. 

10” x 30” (25x75cm) Fusible web: 

Heat n’ Bond Lite, Vliesofix Bondaweb or similar, the kind you use for appliqué. Only needed if working with a cotton exterior and non-fusible foam.

1 yard (90cm) - Woven fusible interfacing: 

Vilene G700 woven fusible, Pellon SF101 Shape-Flex or similar for all cotton fabric. 

10” x 4” (20x10cm) - Heavy interfacing: 

Decovil Heavy, Pellon Peltex 71, Fast 2 Fuse Heavy or similar for the bottom.

 

Notions:

18” (45cm) - #5 Zipper: 

Or longer for bag closure. You can use a 12” (30cm) zipper if you don’t mind separating your zipper. 

2 - Edge connectors (for slipping over the bag edge to attach the handle to)

1 - Metal zipper end

You can use one of these, or fashion a zipper tab of your own design.

7” (18cm) -  Zipper: 

Or longer, for zipper pocket in lining, can be size #3 or #5 as per your preference.

2 - Double sided rivets: 

To attach the straps.

4 - Bag feet: 

Optional: But gives a nice look and protects the bottom of your bag.

Non-permanent marker: 

For making temporary marks, that can be removed with water, heat or similar.

Double sided sewing tape.

100/16 sturdy sewing machine needle (preferably a topstitch kind).

Rotary cutter, cutting mat and ruler.

Fabric clips.
